NOO FOR THE PLANET CHARTER
In 2020, we implemented the NOO FOR THE PLANET charter to define the elements according to which we consider that a piece is part of an approach conscious of its impact on the environment.
Today, 48% of our pieces are labeled NOO FOR THE PLANET . Our goal? To reach a target of 60% by 2025.
For a piece to be labeled NOO FOR THE PLANET, it must meet at least one of the following criteria:
1. Fabric from an existing stock
Sometimes, after a season, we have a few rolls of fabric left over. And there's no question of wasting anything! Every year, we offer you new designs by reusing fabrics from our past collections. We also sometimes buy back leftovers from our suppliers. These existing fabric stocks are also called deadstocks . Boosting our creativity by using existing resources, what else ?
2. Labeled fabric or manufacturing process
Viscose Ecovero/TENCEL®, lyocell, regenerated fibers, BCI cotton, modal, FSC, JEANOLOGIA… Whenever possible, we choose labeled fabrics or manufacturing processes. This may be a material created from wood sourced from certified sustainable forests, environmentally friendly agricultural practices, good working conditions guaranteed for employees, water-saving manufacturing methods… In all cases, these labels guarantee a positive environmental and/or social impact. A piece made with a labeled fabric or manufacturing process is therefore part of our NOO FOR THE PLANET collection!
3. French subject
Working with a French material means being certain of the labor code applied in the company that supplies it, the social rights and salaries of the employees who work there. And above all, it limits travel and therefore the carbon footprint of your product. For all these reasons, we consider that a French fabric is always a relevant choice in terms of environmental impact . Thus, all our pieces created from a French material are part of our NOO FOR THE PLANET selection, and that's cool !
4. 50% minimum GRS recycled fibers
Many of our pieces contain GRS recycled yarns or fibers… but it’s from 50% that we label these products NOO FOR THE PLANET. The GRS (Global Recycled Standard) label guarantees recycled textiles in compliance with environmental and social criteria. It’s therefore a plus of course , but be careful… The GRS certification can concern products with only 20% recycled fibers. At NOO, it’s the combination of 50% recycled fibers + GRS label that makes a piece become NOO FOR THE PLANET.
